come home to Westbrook from the city

10:44 pm Westbrook,CT

it's night now...
quiet
the ole silver streak
rolls north tired and full, carrying her people home
how nice i think it is to come home to Westbrook from the city

"the breath of sweet spring is everywhere"

soaking up the rest of the too rare afternoon sun
it feels like California, with the
traffic picking up from the out-o f-towner's
but not really

so much green all over
buttercups, wild flowers, bunnies, robins and bee's all
hopping, flying and buzzing so naturally;
i'm in their world and love it, seen thru their eyes

the wind off the salt marsh moves like soft waves
that come up and thru my window

we have a glorious maple tree that bows to the wind
with leaves like a soft new shawl

-
the woodland creatures play like little children
playing so carefree, running games of tag and
hide and seek
1st the bunnies
then the chipmunks who squeak and run up to my feet
so i squeak back and they look so curiously at me
and my laptop knowing they are safe with me free to
roam. i sit so still to get a privileged view of them
this place makes me so happy

the breath of sweet spring is everywhere

it's like i always knew it would be

it's like i always knew it would be
morning sun on the north side of the tree
a soft cool breeze exercising her
limbs and leaves around.
sunshine directly on the seat of the old swing
calling me to come out and play
the marsh dry and vast
green, green and more green
what a sight for tired desert eyes

something has knocked over our cherry tomato
and pepper plant...I walk outside and there is
Mr Bunny pretty as you please by them

I gently scold.."you better not have knocked
my plants down" and he keeps looking at this
silly person in his yard and doesn't budge
I tend to the plants
and he keeps nibbling
then goes on his merry way...

I have to smile, with much delight to be accepted
as one who shares "the great backyard salt marsh"

The sunlight continues...

the sun is filtering thru the big leafy tree,
spreading green yellow sunlight everywhere
the swing sways ever so softly and birds continue their talk
how can a day so beautiful be pierced by the sound of traffic...
oh, I remember and will make an exception, it's Memorial Day and the world
is alive with brimming life; thru the death of so many.

"magical salt marshes"

Westbrook 5:23am May 24 008

i wake up and hear there is beauty in life
all birds singing their morning songs
the northern crimson pink light illuminates the sky to my delight
where am i to behold such a wondrous place...
garden of eden, perhaps so
the "magical salt marshes"

life is lush here and varied
even the whoosh of the shore west/east line brings the breath of life with it

I'm overlooking the dawn thru my beautiful backyard, it's green filled yellow circular wild gardens of buttercups
the brown and black tar shed stands sturdy and ready
it's ripe green trees lush with leaves that seem to grow with the light

the possibilities of the day are many, but being here right now holds the best a spirit could wish for
here comes the sun smiling like the full moon, sunny and jolly to take us all on again
this pale blue New England sky collaged with white juicy clouds...

it's getting crisper in definition now
it changes all the time
the sunlight cuts a sharp beam of light onto a sliver of the green
and it's like Hiawatha could come walking thru on it
